Caister’s own John Galea moves one step closer to the big time as he prepares to support platinum-selling boyband McFly on their forthcoming tour.
Galea is a classically trained pianist and composes his own songs, which he describes as “gritty electro-pop.” The deal comes after Galea’s track Do It My Way racked up more than 50,000 hits on YouTube.
As well as singing his own songs, Galea is becoming a successful songwriter in his own right, with his song Frontline recently reaching number one in Malta after it was performed by Maltese singer Thea Garrett.
Mr Galea, who is still unsigned, told the evening news: “It is a great chance, I am so grateful to all the people who voted for me. I am a huge fan of McFly – it is going to be great.”
He added: “I am the only solo artist to be selected and the rest are bands.” The Caister singer’s debut EP, The Scrap Book, is out soon, and his career looks set to go from strength to strength.
