East Angia’s young Olympic hopefuls were put through their paces last week as the UK swimming team selection trials took place at the London Aquatic centre.
Among the hopefuls was Jack Utting, 14, from Caister, who attends Caister High School. He was accompanied by his coach Alex Pinniger, and as well as gaining a new personal best for the 100m backstroke, it looks like Jack may get to represent his country at the 2012 Olympics.
Jack was joined by 15 year old Jessica-Jane Applegate from Gorleston, who swam in the Paralympic trials, and also achieved a personal best, though didn’t quite manage to make the finals.
So keep your eyes on the region’s young sporting talent, and cheer them on as they represent the UK in the 2012 Olympics. With so much talent, it’s no wonder that East Anglia is in the thick of the action.
