Explore Caister in Style with the Love Caister Celebrity Tour
Since Roman times, Caister has been a delightful place to live, with its beautiful position nestled to the north of Great Yarmouth. From its days as a fishing village to its modern life as a seaside holiday resort, Caister has always attracted those who are looking for the quiet life. Surprisingly, this has included a number of celebrities, who have chosen to settle in and around the town. With this in mind, we’ve created the Caister Celebrity Walk so you can follow in some famous footsteps.
Caister Celebrity Walk Route
Our walk begins near the beach at the junction of Manor Road and Beach Road (1). From here you can see the world famous Caister Lifeboats, which have become legendary as one of the most dedicated life saving teams in the country, and which gives the town its motto: “Caister men never turn back.”
Next head north along Manor Road, where you may catch a glimpse of broadcaster Stephen Fry (2), whose sister lives on the right hand side just before the caravan park. Keep heading north until you come to a path that leads into a wood. Follow the path round and you’ll find yourself on Caister beach (3), where you can walk south back to the beginning of the walk.
Along the way, look out for some of the town’s famous faces, who have been known to walk their dogs along this stretch of beach, including Sid Little, half of legendary comedy double act Little and Large.
Once you’re back in sight of the lifeboat shed (4), our walk comes to an end, but if you are driving, you may want to take a trip to Caister Castle to the west of the city, where the incredible collection of classic cars that is Caister Motor Museum can be found. Perhaps unsurprisingly, this collection has seen multiple visits from all three Top Gear presenters, with Jeremy Clarkson especially visiting many times to enjoy this unparallelled collection of vehicles.
